November 3rd Updates and Reminders

UPDATES

All is going well throughout our circuit.  It has been nice for many of us to take a deep breath (no pun intended) after last week's fire storms. This past Sabbath in San Diego; it was so nice to see one family or one individual after another enter services and be hugged or hug.  It is what church is all about--community---being bonded by the Spirit that draws us together in mutual concern. It brings to mind the thought discovered in 1 Corinthians 12:26 that declares, "If one member suffers, all the members suffer with it, or if one member is honored  all the members rejoice with it."  Such is life---narrow paths and wide valleys--each is to be understood and each is to be shared--and to all we are summoned to be a partner with our brethren.

It has been a rich week of fellowship with many brethren in their homes in the Redlands areas. Next week, I look forward to turning my attention to doing the same in San Diego.

REMINDERS

Service time this week in Redlands will be 2 p.m., but next week we start at 1:30 p.m. untill future notice due to the early setting of the sun. This week in Redlands is potluck time. And, a short video on Solomon's Temple will follow ( 25 minutes in length).

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

"Life is to short to be little"----Benjamin Disraeli

This 19th century English Prime Minister came right "to point" in a short and profound way. It causes us to ask who or what has perchance caused chasms of separation rather than bridges of understanding in our relationships.  Stephen Covey, author and management consultant, says, "we must first seek to understand before seeking to be understood. Wise men of old have concluded that "when a man's fight starts with himself, he has gotten into a fight worth having." Jesus simply put it this way in Matthew 5:23-25--"Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, then come, and offer your gift." With this said, perhaps it is time for some home work or dare I say--"heart-work."

A joyous and profitable Sabbath to all,

Robin and Susan
